What happened to my friends' posts?

A user writes:

"On my friends page, I used to see the most recent posting from every friend.  It was useful to get a quick overall view of what everyone was doing.  Then all of a sudden my friends page had only a list of the friends.....no postings from anyone.  I can't find a way to change it back."

The short answer is that Facebook did away with that feature when they redesigned the Friends page.  If you want to know more, keep reading.

This from Facebook about the New Friends Page.
Q: Why can’t I see my friends’ status updates from the Friends page?

A: While status updates have been removed from the Friends page, they have been added in a separate filter on the Home page. If you do not see this filter in your left hand menu immediately, just click the "More" link located beneath the menu.

NOTE:  Then click on "Notes".  That will show you your friends' status updates, listed chronologically, with the most recent on top.

If you still don't see your friends' status updates, follow these steps to make things right.

  1. Logon to Facebook.
  2. Go to your profile.
  3. Click on the "Wall" tab.
  4. Click "Settings" (see the red box in the first image below).
  5. That takes you to another page (see second image below).

This is where you change your Wall's settings.

  1. Look at the red box.
  2. Look at the boxes that are checked.  Make sure you have checkmarks in all three boxes.
  3. Click on the Home tab (in the blue section near the top of the page, next to the word facebook).
  4. From that point forward, you will see your friends’ status updates as they post them.
